A Meetup for Front_End Professionals
Fore_Front is a speaker series for Front End Developers. We’re building a community of front end development professionals to share experiences, further our collective knowledge, explore the latest tech & tools, and discuss opportunities in Washington DC (and beyond).
Perceived Web Performance: The Only Kind That Really Matters
JULY 25TH, 2018 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ ISL (iStrategyLabs)
When a website or app just works, the user experience can feel like a native app – intuitive, seamless, and usable. When it doesn’t work, the experience becomes, well, the opposite – it’s slow, inaccessible, and frustrating. If it’s really bad, users might run the other direction and never return.
In Fore_Front’s second event, featured speaker Eli Fitch will show us how to leverage perceived performance – that is, how the user thinks the site is performing – to make better web experiences. Using the backdrop of human psychology and innate perceptions of time, Eli will unveil tips and tricks to manage perceived loading time (and more).
Before Eli takes the stage, we’ll hear four lightning talks from devs in the community on some exciting topics.
- “Automated Accessibility Testing” by Alex Barbato
- “How to Say Anything” by Valerie Woolard Srinivasan
All of this, plus bagels and coffee. You won’t want to miss it.
Fore_Front Follows The 3 C’s
Ramp up your front end skills. They can only get better. Speakers drop knowledge, you leave inspired. It’s that simple. Revel in the live code examples and thoughtful conversations.
Network with like-minded professionals in the industry. Leverage Fore_Front’s inclusive atmosphere to build friendships, partnerships, and mentorships.
But first and foremost, coffee. You bring the enthusiasm, we’ll provide caffeine (and bagels... So. Many. Bagels).
